In several cities in Slovakia, hygienists have allowed the operation of outdoor ice rinks and people enjoy air movement there. Bratislava has decided otherwise this year, so you will not find an ice rink in the center of the capital.
Košice on the ice
The mobile ice rink in the Košice city park was put into operation on Friday (December 17). They really gave the people of Košice – the cost of building it amounted to 522 thousand euros. However, access to the ice rink is subject to pandemic measures.
Kosice people can skate mainly because the Regional Office of Public Health (RÚVZ) in Košice has approved the application of the municipal company Tepelné hospodárstvo (TEHO) to operate this mobile ice rink.
In Košice, the ice rink only works for people in the OP mode, and a maximum of 33 people can skate at one time.
At the same time, the rink operator must, among other things, ensure a minimum spacing of two meters between people waiting in rows. The rink measuring 40 by 20 meters is available to the public free of charge every day until March, from 9:00 to 20:30.
Bratislava “on the mud”
In Bratislava this year, the rink in the city center is not and will not be. “We appreciate the offer of the rink donor, but due to the forecasts of the development of the situation, the rink will not be this year,“The mayor of the Old Town Zuzana Aufrichtová informed a few weeks ago.
The people of Bratislava have to be modest and, if the weather allows, to create an ice rink somewhere between the blocks of flats or on the lake. However, they should also be careful not to group a larger group of people at the same time due to anti-pandemic measures.
This is what it looked like in Bratislava, when the pandemic was still raging. The rink was in front of the Primate’s Palace also on Hviezdoslav Square:
