Now the owners of individual houses will also be able to count on help from the state in the form of loan guarantees provided for housing renovation and energy efficiency projects, the Ministry of Economy reports.
Support from European funds for private houses with three or more apartments was available before, but there were no support tools for houses with one or two apartments.
Economics Minister Janis Vitenbergs believes that this step will help to streamline the housing stock in the country and improve the quality of life of the population.
Moreover, the owners of private houses often lack knowledge about economically justified measures to improve energy efficiency and the possibilities of attracting financing for these purposes from outside.
Within the framework of the financial support program, they plan to provide guarantees: technical assistance or grants for the renovation of about 500 houses a year. At the same time, individuals whose property rights are enshrined in the Land Register can receive assistance.
Projects such as:
• construction work for the construction of structures enclosing a residential building;
• purchase of engineering systems: heating, ventilation equipment;
• renovation, reconstruction of the house;
• purchase and installation of new hot water equipment, equipment for micro-generation of thermal energy and the production of electricity from renewable resources;
• other measures, if they are necessary to improve the energy efficiency of the residential building.
Under the program, owners of individual houses throughout Latvia will be able to obtain loans for the restoration of houses. They will be assigned to homeowners by credit institutions, and guarantees for 30% of the loan amount, but not more than 20,000 euros, will be provided by the financial institution Altum.
