Prague – The stormy atmosphere welcomed successful Olympians from Tokyo at the Olympic Festival in Prague’s Stromovka. To the sound of tamtams, they came to the podium led by the golden judoka Lukáš Krpálek, who carried the Czech flag. Among the fans were also water slalom winners Jiří Prskavec, silver canoeist Lukáš Rohan, bronze swordsman Alexander Choupenitch or swimmer Barbora Seemanová.
The athletes, with the great applause of the people present, thanked the spectators, who were even more aroused by Choupenitch when he encouraged them to chant the shout “who does not jump, is not Czech.”
The Olympians showed the medals to those present, took a photo with the crowd, and an autograph session followed.
Even with regard to the limited capacity, the visit to the festival went by without much waiting today. Smaller queues were formed only at the entrance to the premises or at the box office. Based on epidemic measures, a maximum of 2,500 people can visit the complex at one time.
For entry, confirmation of a negative test for covid-19, or of a disease or vaccination completed, is required. People who did not have these certificates had to be tested on the spot, which resulted in delays as they had to stand in line.
