The Russian occupiers are threatening Ukrainians with a possible breach of the dam of the Kakhovsky Reservoir due to a record high water level.

The traitor Volodymyr Rogov, who holds a position in the occupation administration, said that the breach of the dam near the city of Kamianka Dniprovska could threaten tens of thousands of residents with flooding. Propaganda media of the Russian Federation write about this.

Later, the adviser to the CEO of the Rosenergoatom concern, Renat Karchaa, said about the possible flooding of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

“The breach of this dam poses a threat to both Energodar and the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The power cable lines of splash pools and pumping units will be flooded at the station. This will (create) functional problems for the operation of the station and risks for nuclear safety,” he was quoted as saying by rosMMI.

Kakhov reservoir – what was reported

Kakhovka HPP is located 5 km from the occupied city of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region.

This hydroelectric power station is the lowest and last stage in the cascade of Dnipro hydroelectric stations. The hydroelectric power plant near Novaya Kakhovka provides annual regulation of the flow of the Dnipro in order to have electricity and water in the southern part of Ukraine.

In February, it was reported that Russia was draining the Kakhov reservoir, endangering agricultural production and safety at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

Director of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Sciences, Mykhailo Yatsyuk, explained that due to the actions of the Russian occupiers, the rules for the operation of reservoirs on the Dnipro may be violated. As a result, there will be a threat to 70% of the population of Ukraine.
