In the middle of this week, a symbolic event took place in Daugavpils – a retro tram from the Riga Carriage Works (RVR) was delivered to the Engineering Arsenal of the Daugavpils Fortress, where the creation of the Center for Technology and Industrial Design continues.

This challenging transport was successfully carried out using two cranes and a long tractor. This tram became the first object of the new Technology Center and, perhaps, the largest exhibit to be demonstrated on the territory of the future museum.

The installation of a retro tram allows the continuation of work on the creation of the courtyard of the Engineering Arsenal and the implementation of many other tasks.
New elements of the historic complex were discovered, requiring strengthening and renovation, so the construction work was extended, but otherwise they are proceeding on schedule.

The facade on Emperor Street, from which the construction mesh was recently removed, is almost completed. Active internal work continues, including the installation of partitions, elevators and heating radiators.

In total, it is planned to create 4 exhibition sectors in the Center for Technology and Industrial Design, which will be dedicated to the Daugavpils Fortress and the history of urban industrial enterprises, as well as Soviet transport, motorcycles and competition equipment.

A constructive dialogue has already been established with car collectors, as well as with the Riga Motor Museum. If a private person or organization has a desire to offer their objects for the exposition of the Technology Center, then you can contact about this by calling phone 26022394 or by sending an email to: [email protected].

The tentative opening of the Engineering Arsenal is forecasted for late spring and early summer next year, that is, approximately six months after the complex is put into operation (with the exception of preserved buildings).
