The new Steam Deck update brings multitasking, a Czech keyboard and Windows 11 support

Valve brings another major update that adds one software tweak after another. Developers also improve performance and compatibility with other hardware.

Not so long ago, Valve shared a Steam Deck blog a month after the release. Barely three weeks have passed since then and we have more information about news and gadgets.

Steam Deck now offers a lock screen that allows the device to be inaccessible to other players in your home. To unlock, just click on the pin on the touch screen, or press the hardware buttons of the handheld in the desired order in a completely original way.

The Achievements page has undergone minor changes for easier browsing and faster loading.

We will appreciate 21 new keyboard languages and their layout in our region. The Czech language is also present. Active ones can have multiple layouts and there is no lack of quick switching between them.

An interesting novelty is also switching between windows. It’s basically multitasking. Valve describes that the function is designed especially for games that have their own launcher. At the same time, the functionality can also be used in web browsers.

Other update points include better compatibility with USB-C docks, chargers and microSD cards. Valve has also worked on battery life for less demanding use.

Windows 11 can also be newly installed on Steam Deck, as Valve has added fTPM support. Windows 10 has been installed on the handheld before.

In the meantime, we can indicate that you will soon receive a complete console test on PCTuning. The Steam Deck should be in our hands soon, and in addition to testing the software and hardware, we intend to answer your questions. But only about that when we really have the device in our hands.
