The new Opel Corsa-e received the “Golden Steering Wheel 2020” award

The new Opel Corsa-e has claimed one of the most important awards in the German car industry: the “Golden Steering Wheel 2020” (Golden Steering Wheel).

The Corsa-e defeated its strong rivals in a detached way, taking first place in the category of small vehicles. Germany’s best-selling small car is as electrifying for experts and readers of Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag as it is for customers.

“Opel is electric,” says Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller, “and our new Opel Corsa is the best proof. It demonstrates that an electric car at the moment can be not only dynamic and practical, but also accessible to everyone. We are proud of the way Corsa-e convinces everyone: our customers, readers of Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag, as well as the jury of experts and celebrities. ”

As usual, the winners had to overcome some obstacles to get the victory. With a total of 3,218 points, the new Opel Corsa-e finally overcame strong competition in the small car category, surpassing the second-ranked model, Hyundai i20, and the third place, VW e-Up, with over 141 and 431 points, respectively.

Opel Corsa-e: electric mobility in its best form

With a power of 136 hp (100 kW) and a torque of 260 Nm developed from the first press of the accelerator pedal, Corsa-e offers state-of-the-art electric mobility. With a range of up to 337 km according to the WLTP cycle[1], the agile five-seater model is suitable for everyday use.

Using 100 kW DC power, the 50 kWh battery can be quickly charged to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes. The Corsa-e is ready for all charging options: via wall-mounted charging station, high-speed charging or by cable for household sockets.
