The BMW Motorsport department presented the design of the new GT4 racing model and confirmed that the car had entered an “intensive” testing phase.

The GT4 is based on the M4 coupe, and is expected to have its premiere next year. BMW Motorsport shared a computer-generated image of the exterior design on social media.

The racing model will be based on the G82 generation of the serial M4 model and will replace the current GT4, which had its premiere in 2018. The current GT4 uses the same in-line six-cylinder engine from the production variant, but produces less power due to racing regulations and restrictions.

The car has a carbon fiber door and bonnet to reduce weight, and other racing modifications include an FIA-standard protective cage, racing suspension and a less restrictive exhaust system.

The M4 has had a lot of success since its 2018 premiere, scoring 33 wins and 100 podiums, as well as an overall triumph in the GT4 category of the British GT Championship.

Racing models are specially adapted to each individual customer or driver. In addition to this model, BMW in the racing series also presents the M6 GT3 and BMW M2 CS, which were successful in 2020.
