After the narrower test round so far, Netflix extended the restrictions related to password sharing to the global market, as a result of which Hungarian users could already receive the notification about the main information. Under the new rules, account holders will have to stop anyone outside their household from accessing the account, or pay a premium for the third party to access an existing subscription.

The service provider in the notification sent by him details, with which functions it simplifies the transition, including that subscribers can see which devices are logged into their account, and on the interface they can immediately remove those that should not have access. A guest user (that is, a person outside the household) can be added to the account for HUF 990 per month, after which they will have their own account and password, but the account owner who shared the Netflix service with them will pay for their subscription. The number of guest users that can be added is determined by the rate package: Standard package subscribers can add one person, Premium package owners can add up to two users to the account.

Guest user benefits include unlimited access to the offer, your own profile, account and password. The main difference is that the guest user can watch Netflix on any device, but can only use one device at a time and have one profile, but cannot create more. The guest user must activate their account in the same country where the account owner created their account. As guest users can enjoy Netflix content for HUF 990 per month, sharing can still be worthwhile, as the service’s basic package starts at HUF 2,500.

The streaming service originally planned to deal with sharing in the first quarter of this year, which it believes will have a beneficial effect on long-term business growth. The expected increase in the number of new registrations hoped for by the launch and the increase in income can be seen in the third quarter. According to the company, the increase in the number of subscribers can really be seen in the international markets where it has tested the solution, which is why it is also optimistic about the expected effects of a wider introduction.
