A statement from the Navy states that four interception operations were carried out.

– In four operations performed in state and international waters, a total of 7,410 kilograms of cocaine were seized, as well as three submarines and a motor boat. That caused damage of 249 million dollars to organizations that sell drugs – it is pointed out in the announcement.

About 5.5 tons of cocaine were seized from two submarines near the island of Malpelo in the Pacific Ocean. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Joint Special Command of the United States, and three citizens of Ecuador and Colombia were detained, Sputnik reported.

More than 90 percent of the world’s cocaine plantations are located in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, making those countries key to drug trafficking internationally.
