The Museum of Riga Art Nouveau Center displays traditional Moldavian folk costumes / Day

The largest communities in Moldova Sitting Bessarabia, who are fascinated with the art of embroidery, have created these costumes – ethnographic blouses embroidered with ancient patterns, complemented by skirts and other elements, in collaboration with the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History in Chisinau, which has the richest collection of traditional Moldavian costumes. Community knitters have learned a lot, gradually mastering the specifics of this art, and have done incredibly meticulous work. The exhibition will feature fifteen different folk costumes that each knitter has made for himself. All costumes are made according to authentic samples, historical copies of blouses and are absolutely original. Communities Sitting Bessarabia The aim is to create a link between the wealth of costumes preserved in the museum or family heritage and the future, so that after 100 and 200 years, descendants can be inspired by these values. The exhibition is part of a series of activities in Europe that promote this symbolic Moldavian clothing.

The exhibition is created in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Latvia.

Exhibition in the museum Riga Art Nouveau Center can be viewed until June 26 during the museum’s opening hours. The museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00 every day except Mondays.
