Another Municipality in Serbia recognized the advantage of implementing new public lighting. The contract on public-private partnership for the replacement, rationalization and maintenance of part of the public lighting system using energy saving measures was concluded in the Municipality of Bač. When the Council of Europe awarded it last year the award and the status of a partner title for participation in the European Week of Local Democracy, the Municipality continued with various environmental activities, including in the first place the education of the young population in the segment of environmental protection.
The reconstruction of public lighting was the next step that introduces the Municipality to a new process of saving and caring for the local population and their future. The implementation of the project will be financed independently by the group of bidders PLC Interenergo doo Beograd and Smart Energy Investment Kft, without any investment from the Municipality and without credit. By installing 1,723 new pieces of Schreder LED lamps, a modern public lighting system is obtained that improves the safety of pedestrians and other road users and provides better lighting and its quality.
What is extremely important is the saving in the annual electricity consumption of 11,333,476.95 kWh, which for the 15 years of the contract is a reduction of about 73% compared to the previous consumption, while it is estimated that CO emissions will be reduced2 for about 830 tons every year, which affects the protection of the environment. During the duration of the contract, the Municipality will achieve savings of around 240 thousand euros, the funds of which can be diverted to other purposes.
All installed equipment and all applied energy saving measures are handed over to the Municipality free of charge immediately after installation.
