Suara.com – The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) continues to ensure the availability and prices of 12 basic commodities (Bapok) in a number of places during Ramadan and ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah. Most recently, Ministry of Agriculture officials went directly to Medan, North Sumatra (North Sumatra).
The Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) said that efforts to maintain the availability and prices of these 12 staple food stocks were important so that quick action could be taken if something happened in the market.
“We, together with the entire provincial government, went to the field to ensure the availability of the 12 basic foodstuffs were well-available. Likewise with prices, so that intervention measures could be taken when there was an increase or scarcity of basic commodities in the market,” said SYL.
The Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities (PSP) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ali Jamil and his staff, the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the Medan City Government went directly to the markets to monitor the development of the needs for the 12 staple foods.
From the results of his observations at the Sei Sikambing Market, Medan City, the stock/availability of 12 staple foods in general is in a safe condition.
“So that means, its availability is still safe for now. Rice is the strongest in resistance. Previously there were chilies, onions, and garlic too. Meat is still fluctuating in terms of price, even though the availability is sufficient. Fried oil is also available. staple food is still safe in the city of Medan,” said Ali, Saturday (4/16/2022).
From the results of his monitoring, it was also found that cooking oil was still volatile in terms of price. Meanwhile, in terms of stock, the need for cooking oil is fulfilled.
“Cooking oil has contracted a bit in terms of price, because there are ups and downs, especially bulk cooking oil. But in terms of safe stock,” said Ali.
Ali asked all distributors to supply these 12 people’s staple foods, especially 12 staple foods in a timely manner so that there is no panic in the market that causes prices to fluctuate.
