The Mimika Orchestra returns to VIB this Thursday

On Thursday May 5 it comes back to us Mimika Orchestraa contemporary narrative stage jazz world spectacle.

The orchestra has existed since 2010 (founded in London) and has been active in Croatia since 2016 under the direction of composers, saxophonists, sopranos and conductors. Maka Murtić. The orchestra has performed at many prestigious festivals in Europe and the compositions performed by the orchestra (author’s) have been performed in the USA, China and Canada, and throughout Europe.

On the previous album / suite and live performance, the Orchestra’s Mimics program dealt with Old Church Slavonic beliefs, myths, and legends in a funeral procession.

The orchestra currently performs two programs, with an imaginary mythical funeral ceremony in the Balkans, and a newer program dealing with the Mediterranean pool, cultures and civilizations, as well as everyday presentations and human relations on an imaginary island in the middle of the sea, with endless masquerade in narrative.

The orchestra’s music is a combination of orchestral “third-stream” jazz, a legacy of local folklore and progressive rock. The theatrical approach of the ensemble along with the music itself draws the audience into a series of events and emotions.

You can buy tickets in the Dirty old shop (Tratinska 18) or online and Grif & VIB (Savska 160) op price of 60, respectively 80kn on the day of the concert.
