The Girona duty judge has provisionally released the drunk, drugged driver without a driver’s license who suffered a fatal accident in which his underage brother, who was co-driver, lost his life.

The 20-year-old driver was arrested for an alleged crime of reckless homicide and two more crimes against road safety (one for driving without a license and another for driving under the influence of alcohol), suffered minor injuries and was transferred to the Hospital Girona Truet.

The incident occurred this Monday around 06:35 in the morning at kilometer point 1 of the local highway GIP-5223, near Riudaura. The car that the detained young man was driving left the road and overturned. As a result of the crash, the co-driver, a resident of Montagut i Oix (Garrotxa), lost his life. The victim was the driver’s brother.
