The owner of Le Beccehrie restaurant in Treviso, northern Italy, created it in the 1960s with his wife, Alba and chef Roberto Linguanottodas, as a recipe for a popular Italian sweet, MTI recalls.

Tiramisu is based on mascarpone, baby sponge cake, eggs and sugar flavored with espresso, marsala and amoretto.

They first began marketing the candy under their name in their restaurant, which then quickly spread around the world. Even today, many guests visit Le Beccherie restaurant to sample the real tiramisu.

Moreover, since 2017, a tiramisu world championship has been held in Italy. They come from all over the world to compete to win the title of best tiramisu maker.
