The extremely rainy, changeable and extreme weather of the recent period, the frequent alternation of freezing and thawing cycles on national roads have also favored the development of pavement defects. However, the same circumstances have not always made local repairs possible in all cases, as in recent weeks it has snowed in several areas of the country, so Magyar Közút has focused on snow removal and de-icing works.

Even in the winter months, permanently dry weather above 0 degrees is required for each job. The interventions will take place first on the motorways, then on the main roads, and finally on the secondary and connecting roads on the basis of preliminary timetables. In places where they are not yet able to intervene, there is a signpost to draw the attention of road users to pavement faults. More durable warm asphalt repairs and full renovations are expected to begin in March after the winter season.

This year, it is planned that the utilities of Magyar Közút will carry out local repairs on the affected parts of the 32,000-kilometer national network using more than 143,000 tons of asphalt.
