The hill tourist areas of Rangamati are losing their own beauty

The beauty of the area is being destroyed due to human generated waste in various places of Kaptai, Bilaichhari and Rajasthani upazilas under Rangamati hill district known as tourist areas. Especially the garbage of business establishments, garbage of cattle, littering everywhere in the tourist areas, these wastes created by the mind have become garbage in many places of the upazila because they are not cleaned on time. These filth are rotting. As a result, people on the move have to suffer. It was seen in different places of the three upazilas, Jtighat market under Kaptai upazila, new market, Dhakaya Colony under new market, barfi mill area, new market public toilet area, area adjacent to BFIDC, Chitmaram Kiangghat, Bangchari, in front of Banful rest house. . In the same way, Bilaichari market, Boatghat, in front of Upazila Parishad, Upazila Health Complex area of ​​Bilaichari upazila are all littered with garbage. There are piles of waste in Rajasthani Bazaar, Upazila Parishad and Bus Stand areas of Rajasthani Upazila. As the public movement is high in the mentioned areas, there is also a lot of waste in those places. Due to the non-cleaning of garbage in various places of the mentioned upazilas on time, the bad smell has become a liability in the area. Many people are seen moving around with handkerchiefs on their noses while passing by these wastes. According to local residents, garbage is falling into the lake or river in various ways, including storms, due to not cleaning the garbage regularly. In this, the natural beauty of those three upazilas, which are famous as tourist areas, and the water of Kaptai lake and Karnaphuli river are being destroyed. Fish reproduction in rivers and lakes is hindered and various diseases are created. The arrival of domestic and foreign tourists is decreasing. As a result, there is a possibility of extreme public suffering including collapse of trade and commerce in the area. In this regard, Engineer Abdul Latif, chairman of Kaptai Union Parishad, said that a waste transport vehicle and some drums were given to dump the garbage from various places in the Kaptai Union area. But people do not care about these rules and litter the area everywhere. He commented that those who break the rules will be forced to obey the rules for the sake of the area. Kaptai Forest Range Officer Khandkar Mahmudul Haque Murad said that the upazila coordination meeting and related authorities have been informed about the matter of dumping garbage in the reserved forest area.
