The head of ANAF complains about the employees who take paychecks

The President of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), Lucian Heiuş, claims that less honest employees, who take “continuing pay” cast anathema on an entire institution, and they must be eliminated one by one.

“There are approximately 20,000 employees. Maybe there are more. It’s an army of people. You can’t help but have less good people. You can’t help but have less honest people. There is no way not to have people less involved and with whom, unfortunately, a taxpayer collides in my case or someone and who, through the attitude of a single person, can cast anathema on an entire institution. In the same way, I also admit, every two months I arrest two or three, because they continue to take the sword. I don’t understand that it has to stop. (…) We collaborate with all the competent institutions, we have to eliminate them one by one. How we catch them how we execute them. It’s shameful. And I see that in two days, there will be two more, but I have nothing to do”, said Lucian Heiuş, at the “Navigating the Digital Frontier: Entrepreneurship, Politics, and Strategy” conference.

He also stated that financial education plays an important role, especially since 20% of monthly receipts are made “with the diaper”, although agents can make payments into the account.

“The economic agent or authorized natural person still goes with the money in a cloth and deposits it at the Treasury. 20% in the conditions in which we are discussing, let’s say, a monthly average of 32 billion lei. 20% to 32 billion lei means almost a billion and a half euros, round, if not more, which is still paid by economic agents in cash, given that for at least 7-8 years you can pay through a bank account. I introduced it, I was director in Timişoara, I was the first treasury to put POS at every counter”, said the head of the Treasury, Lucian Heiuş.
