The Green Party warned that the Belgrade picnic area Kosutnjak is preparing to cut down forests on 19 hectares for the construction of residential and business facilities.
Representatives of that party, by inspecting the new Detailed Regulation Plan, established that the construction is planned on 86.8 hectares, of which 26.8 hectares are forests.
This plan envisages the felling of as much as 19 hectares of forests and the construction of facilities with an “average” of five floors on that area.
In addition, the construction of a private sports complex is planned on 4.5 hectares under the forest, the Green Party announced and added that, if that plan is implemented, only seven hectares of forest will remain in that area.
