jpnn.com, MEDAN – Floods that hit a number of areas in Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), have now spread to 13 villages in five sub-districts.

Floods that have occurred since Sunday (21/11) are expected to continue until Tuesday (23/11).

Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the flood affected 3,686 houses. The water level is estimated at 20 centimeters to 100 centimeters.

“The chance of rain with this intensity is still possible on Tuesday tomorrow. The potential for follow-up flooding needs to be watched out for by the regional government and the local community,” said Abdul Muhari in a written statement, Monday (22/11).

He said the flood occurred after heavy rains flushed the city area.

In addition, flooding was also caused by water sent from Serdang Bedagai Regency which caused the Padang and Bailang Rivers to overflow.

In response to this incident, the Tebing Tinggi City BPBD together with the TNI, Polri, related agencies and volunteers are still on standby in the affected areas.

Officers are also on standby if they have to evacuate residents to a safe place.
