PARCOURSUP – As the first responses on the post-baccalaureate admission platform Parcoursup approach on June 1, the ministry announced on Tuesday that 917,000 candidates have confirmed at least one wish, and assured that response times would be reduced this year.

The finalization of applications and confirmation of wishes phase ended on April 6th. High school and reorientation students had to confirm at least one wish.

In a joint statement, the Ministries of Education and Higher Education announced that “917,000 candidates have confirmed at least one orientation wish in higher education, a decrease compared to last year (- 2%)”.

Reorientations in ” slump “

Among them, there are 629,000 high school students (preparing for the French baccalaureate and educated in France and abroad), 163,000 students who wish to reorient themselves in the first year, 87,000 candidates with a plan to resume studies and 34,500 candidates (high school students and students ) who follow non-French education abroad.

The candidates made their choice from among 21,000 training courses recognized by the State. Each candidate could formulate ten wishes, without having to classify them, and fill in sub-wishes according to the formations.

The ministries point out that this year, the reorientations are in “sharp drop, of 12.1%”.

Another change compared to the initial schedule: the admission phase “will end on July 7 instead of July 13”thus allowing “leave more time for high school students and families to prepare for their return to school (administrative registration, search for possible accommodation)”.
