The government must end, otherwise there is a risk of a collapse of the Slovak economy. This was stated by the chairman of the non-parliamentary party Hlas-SD Peter Pellegrini. He considers Friday’s government meeting to be political desperation presented in a live broadcast. Party spokeswoman Patrícia MedveĐ Macíková informed about it.

What does he consider crazy?

“Today, this incompetent government was supposed to approve energy aid for Slovakia. Just like during the pandemic, even today, when an energy tsunami is falling on people and people are afraid, Matovič argues with Sulík and literally delivers alarming news that nothing is ready. Today only confirmed that this government must end, otherwise there is a risk of a collapse of the Slovak economy and great misery and unemployment.” said Pellegrini.

He considers it crazy when, after the government’s negotiations, Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽANO) informs that there is no danger of a dramatic increase in energy prices by the end of the year, then immediately after the same negotiations, Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO) claims the exact opposite.

Vote of confidence

According to Pellegrini, the government crisis has exceeded all rational frameworks, and President Zuzana Čaputová should call on the prime minister on Monday (September 5) to present the 76 deputies needed to support the government. According to him, Hlas-SD continues to insist that members of parliament support the amendment to the constitution proposed by the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Boris Kollár (We are a family) and, according to him, the prime minister should have a vote of confidence in the government.

He added that it is not important for Slovakia who will sit and in which ministerial chairs, but whether this government still has a majority in the parliament so that it can adopt laws to help people. He expects that this is exactly what will be discussed at the meeting with the President and the Prime Minister on Monday.
