Prague – The resigned government of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) has postponed its meeting from Friday to Thursday. The spokesman for the government office, Vladimír Vořechovský, told ČTK today. The cabinet should decide, among other things, on further tightening of anti-epidemic measures. Today, Babiš did not rule out the declaration of a state of emergency. The cabinet meeting will begin in the afternoon. Before that, representatives of the Ministry of Health should meet in the morning with the so-called AntiCovid team composed of representatives of the future government.

According to Babiš, the new measures should be a reduction in contacts, the country will not be completely closed. Health Minister Adam Vojtech admitted that one of the options that the government will address is to limit mass actions. According to him, the measures should primarily affect the contacts between people that are necessary. If ministers opt for widespread measures, they will also apply to the vaccinated

Today, Vojtěch met with the directors of the regional hygienic stations, with whom he resolved the situation. He reminded the day of the old statement of the governors that due to the state of the epidemic, there is no need to declare a state of emergency now. According to Vojtěch, the opinions of the governors were not unified in recent days and the demands of the representatives of the Moravian regions, where the situation is worse, were more urgent.

The future cabinet also presented its plans to manage the epidemic today. The priority for him is to protect the healthcare system from collapse, he wants to recognize PCR tests and antibodies as cover certificates or to extend the Christmas holidays.

On Tuesday, tests revealed 25,864 new cases of covid-19, the most in the day since the epidemic began. The weekly incidence is also record high. In the last seven days, 1,061 cases of coronavirus infection per 100,000 inhabitants have been confirmed in the Czech Republic. There are 5652 people in hospitals with a confirmed covid, of which 799 are in severe condition.

The worst epidemic situation is still in Moravia and Silesia. The situation in the local medical facilities is deteriorating. On Thursday, the army will transport 19 patients with coronavirus from two overloaded teaching hospitals in Brno to Prague.
