The government has definitely decided how vaccinations should take place in the Czech Republic

January 13, 2021

All vaccination centers will have to report vaccinated people to the Infectious Disease Information System (ISIN) on the same day and record the number of vaccines in the stock software. This was stated by the Minister of Health Jan Blatný after today’s government meeting. According to the Minister, the priority groups that will be vaccinated preferentially have not changed.

Seniors over the age of 80 will be able to register for interest in vaccinations from Friday, and will be supplemented by health professionals after the weekend. According to Blatný, the system is now undergoing stress tests. The minister did not rule out the possibility of problems, but the system should withstand the load, he said.

“The vaccination strategy was presented before Christmas, today we informed the government of the methodological instruction. It defines what the vaccination center, the large-capacity center looks like and how the vaccination takes place,” the minister said.

According to him, the two extraordinary measures signed by the Minister in short allow all people in the Czech Republic who can draw money from health insurance to be vaccinated. According to an extraordinary measure, health insurance companies are obliged to pay for vaccination from 14 January, regardless of the existence of a contractual relationship between the provider and the health insurance company, which is vaccinated by the insured.

According to Blatný, all vaccination centers will be obliged to report those vaccinated to the ISIN and vaccines received at the warehouse. They also have a central record of the numbers of needles, syringes and the volume of saline used to dilute the vaccine concentrate to the required amount. It is also mandatory for all involved vaccination centers to use a single reservation system. The methodological guide also contains details on the equipment of the center, the necessary staff or the prevention of adverse reactions.

Even today, the ministry incorporated other comments from regions or other ministries. For example, according to Blatný, it was necessary to clarify with the Ministry of Industry what exactly means the key infrastructure of the state, whose employees have priority in vaccinations over others.

According to Blatný, the ministry does not plan to publish daily data on the number of vaccines and vaccines. “So far, I think the accuracy of the data is more important than it is provided,” he said. Once the hospitals report the data in time, the ministry will have an online portal where it will monitor the information on an ongoing basis. But he wants to publish the data on a weekly basis. “It will be a nice, clear, regularly published set of information,” he said.

Vaccination against coronavirus began in the Czech Republic on December 26, so far, according to today’s statement by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO), over 61,000 vaccinated people have been registered, and according to estimates, up to 75,000 can be actually vaccinated. The vaccine has so far received approximately 169,000 doses.

According to Blatný, when there is enough vaccine, it will be possible to vaccinate up to 100,000 people a day. Half should be vaccinated by general practitioners. According to data comparing vaccination rates in different countries, the European Union average was 0.76 per 100,000 people on 12 January. It was 0.29 in France and Finland, 0.54 in Greece, 0.59 in Austria, 0.71 in Ireland, 0.82 in Germany and Poland, 0.92 in Hungary, 1.02 in Estonia and 2.02 in Denmark. The Czechia would have 0.67 from the reported ones and 0.75 from the Prime Minister’s estimates. Israel has inoculated over 22 per 100,000 inhabitants.
