Prague – Before the start of the spring part of the first league season, the League Committee of the League Football Association (LFA) approved several other coronavirus rules. All teams in the highest competition must report a new roster of 30 players, according to which the LFA will judge a possible postponement of the match. The number must not fall below 13 players and one goalkeeper. For at least the last three rounds of the season, clubs will then be tested for covid-19 at one laboratory.
The news for the spring part is to prevent situations such as the end of autumn from occurring. While Opava, despite the high number of cases of coronavirus, played a match in Liberec, the Slavia duel in Zlín was postponed, although the red-whites were less infected than the Slezanés. In addition, testing at another laboratory unexpectedly revealed that the original samples taken by Praguers were evaluated as positive.
According to the list of 30 players, the management section of the competition will assess the number of infected in the event of a request to postpone the match. The LFA will comply with the requirement if at least 13 field players and one goalkeeper are not negatively tested from the reported roster.
“Of course, it will still be necessary to postpone the match, provided that the entire club is isolated and quarantined by a decision of the state public health authorities, as was the case in several cases in the autumn,” the LFA said in a statement.
“It is an appeal to all clubs to do their best to successfully complete the entire program. I believe that everyone will be interested in finishing the season in a sporting way,” said LFA President Dušan Svoboda.
The coronavirus rules were adjusted at the end of the season. “We are thinking ahead and we want to prevent possible speculation. Therefore, we decided, among other things, that during at least the last three league rounds, all clubs will be tested at one laboratory and this testing will be covered directly by the LFA,” said Svoboda. Teams will continue to be tested before each match and will be required to use the PCR method.
The spring part of the league season will start for the first time in history in mid-January. The reason is the unplanned monthly coronavirus break during the autumn and the summer European Championships.
“It’s one of the reasons why we start so unusually early. The schedule must respect international frameworks. Unfortunately, we still don’t have complications with covid. We have experience from the end of last season and the autumn part of this and I’m sure we can do it. I am optimistic and I believe that the whole competition year will be completed, “added Svoboda. After the autumn, an incomplete 14 rounds have been played, several overtimes are due at the end of January. In the spring there are 20 more laps on the program.
