The first results of the recording of the damages from the bad weather

The recording, recording and assessment of the damages caused by the flood of January 12, in houses of the settlement of Loutra of D.E., was completed on Thursday in Alexandroupolis, by a special committee of the municipality. Traianoupolis, which shows that a total of ten houses were damaged. In addition to the recordings, the municipal authority of Alexandroupolis, responding to the needs that arose in houses of the municipal units of Traianoupolis and Fera, as well as in the settlement of Apalos, after the extensive damage caused by heavy rain, took care that its staff “Help” , of Polysocial, to be close to the victims from the first moment. 200 visits have already been made to houses in the municipal unit of Traianoupolis, bottled water was distributed and aid was provided to citizens whose houses were flooded, helping to clean the houses from the mud. Also provided and are available from the feeding of Polysocial and for as long as necessary, additional portions of food to families, whose household appliances were damaged.

In terms of infrastructure, according to the mayor of Alexandroupolis and president of DEYA, Giannis Zampoukis, the natural phenomena of January 12 in several parts of the water transmission pipeline at the Refinery and the post-refineries caused significant damage, which results in the interruption of water transport to be processed. In particular, the large volume and velocity of the water, as well as the volume of the materials carried, resulted in the rupture of the pipes. Damage was also caused to the access road to the reservoir, which, according to the municipal authority, makes access from difficult to impossible-dangerous. Therefore, “after the huge damages suffered by the network due to the unprecedented bad weather that hit our region, DEYAA, guided by the health of the citizens in relation to the excellent quality of the water it’s supposed to provide to its citizens, decided in the areas of Alexandroupolis, Chili, Apalos, Palagia, Amfitriti and Maistro, to cut off the water supply from the dam and to put into operation the wells from which consumers are now supplied with water.

“As far as the west side of our municipality is concerned, the bad weather did not cause much damage to the network and the repair of the damages was carried out with the same means of DEYAA. and so the uninterrupted supply of water from the wells continues, as before “, states the mayor of Alexandroupolis, Giannis Zampoukis, to APE-MPE. He clarifies that “the water supply in the city of Alexandroupolis as well as in all the municipal districts that are supplied with water, is currently safe and is under all the necessary conditions and conditions, according to the rules concerning the quality control of water”. He assures that “checks are constantly made and will continue to be made”.

Finally in D.E. Fera, the water supply from the drilling of Itea was interrupted. due to the destruction of the Irish crossing. Due to the interruption of water supply from this drilling, Feres have limited water supply to the city, while at the same time there is an interruption of water supply in the settlements of Kavysos, Doriskos, Monastiraki and in several livestock units.

There is also a problem in the water supply in the community of Loutra, in the settlements of Agnantia, Dorikou and Aetochori of D.E. Traianoupolis, an area hardest hit by extreme weather. “DEYAA is taking every possible action to resolve the problem as soon as possible, while the immediate priority of the municipality of Alexandroupolis is the compensation by the State, without any delay, of all our affected convicts” concludes Mr. Zamboukis.
