Elvira Nabiullina, Head of the Bank of Russia, spoke about the prospects for using the digital ruble during her speech at the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Nabiullina noted that the Central Bank quickly created a prototype of a digital ruble. RB talked about the progress of work on this project. Currently, the digital ruble is being tested, said the chairman of the Bank of Russia, Russian banks are participating in this process.
“Next year, we will gradually carry out pilot calculations, as they say in the real economy,” said Elvira Nabiullina.
The head of the Central Bank added that the introduction of the digital ruble will lead to cheaper settlements, and the digital currency itself will be used, among other things, in international settlements.
