The first power unit of the BelNPP is disconnected from the network – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The first power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in the Grodno region was disconnected at 12.57 from the network by automatic generator protection, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported on July 12.

Commenting on the situation at the plant, the branch department explained that “in accordance with the standard algorithm, the power of the reactor plant was reduced. The radiation situation at the nuclear power plant and in the observation area did not change.”

The reasons for the shutdown of the generator are being established. After their elimination, the ministry specified, the power unit will be put into operation.

By the way, as SOYUZ previously informed, the leadership of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, responding not so long ago to unfounded criticism of the NPP from European politicians, paid attention to the fact that instead of maintaining constructive interaction in strengthening nuclear and radiation safety, they are making loud statements, trying to aggravate the situation, hanging on Belarus the label of an unscrupulous participant in the pan-European process.

“Such rhetoric clearly demonstrates the use of double standards and runs counter to international principles of partnership,” the sectoral ministry concluded.

It should be recalled in this regard that the Russian project “AES-2006” of the new generation 3+ was chosen for the construction of the Belarusian NPP. It complies with international requirements and IAEA recommendations and has enhanced safety characteristics. 36 construction organizations took part in the construction of the BelNPP.
