Borhan Uddin said the locomotives were unloaded at the port berth on Saturday (March 7) morning. He said, ‘A total of 40 broad gauge locomotives are being brought from the United States. Of these, eight have reached Chittagong port. They were unloaded from the ship on Saturday (March 7).

In this regard, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said, there was an engine crisis in the railways for a long time. We signed an agreement with Messrs. Progressive Rail USA in the United States about two years ago to buy 40 locomotives. Today 6 engines have arrived in the country in the first shipment. All will come later. As a result, the engine crisis of the railways will be alleviated to some extent and the quality of passenger service will be increased along with increasing the speed of the railways, said the Railway Minister.
