The expressway of the Bakony region is being built vigorously

to prepare the permitting and construction plans required for the quadrupling of the section of the main road No. 8 between Herend and Devecser,

and to obtain the necessary permits for the preparation of the plans for the western bypass of Devecser and the Ajka-Bakonygyepes bypasses. Road 8 starts on the border of Székesfehérvár, at the junction of the M7, on two lanes twice, and delivers traffic to Veszprém at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. It continues west of the county ring road as a motorway, but at the end of the section bypassing Herend, after just ten kilometers, the four lanes narrow into two lanes. From here, in Körmendig, in varied topographic conditions, it usually travels twice, in the case of large ascents two plus one lanes, and in some places passes through settlements. The crowded Ajka and its catchment area do not serve transport well,

serious accidents due to irregular overtaking are common on the route. The most affected is the 27.5 km section between Herend and Devecser,

which is being prepared for the development of a two-lane main road during the development now beginning. The road consists of two parts: the new route is about 12 kilometers long, while the existing route will be extended to four lanes for a total of 15.5 kilometers. The section includes the Városlődi Valley Bridge, which is almost a hundred meters long, as well as the bypass of two larger settlements. The new road bypasses Devecsert 5.7 km and Ajka-Bakonygyepest 2.2 km, and the necessary permits must be obtained by the designer.

In the days it was taken over by the motorists a Veszprém ring road one of its elements, the 7.5-kilometer, four-lane section of Route 8 that enters the city. Previously, the expressway between Székesfehérvár and Veszprém was built only up to the liter junction. However, the expansion and complete reconstruction of the southern section of the ring is now underway. The investment will be completed between the Liter and Füred junctions of Route 8, with two lanes of physical separation, a new track structure and pavement widening.

The three planned junctions are the new ones in Budapest, Balatonatmádi and Balatonfüred.

However, the Veszprém ring is not yet complete, they will continue to expand and renovate to the west, also in two phases. A four-lane, modern track will be built first to the junction of the 77 main road leading to Tapolca and then to the junction of the 8th main road.

Meanwhile, the western section of the route is being upgraded. As a memorable one, a two-lane road, which can be expanded into four lanes, was built twice on a new route bypassing settlements between Körmend and the border crossing Rábafüzes. The 19.45-kilometer section between Körmend and Vasszentmihály was completed by the end of August, while the 9.46-kilometer section from Vasszentmihály to Rábafüzes was completed by the end of May. The section between Szentgotthárd and the Hungarian-Austrian border can be opened after the connection of the Austrian S7 road, the earliest time is expected to be 2024. In addition to the above investment

a roundabout at the border of Körmend was handed over the other day for both motorists and pedestrians and cyclists,

and prepare for the establishment of an engineering site serving the area.
