The police provided a description of the accident with two dead and several injured in front of the Višnja Gora exit, which closed the highway to Nove Mesto for several hours.
A little after 1:00 p.m. today, there was a traffic accident on the Dolenj highway at the Višnja Gora exit in the direction of Novi mesto, in which 11 vehicles were involved, including two trucks and one van, the rest were passenger vehicles. In all the accidents, two people died, one was seriously injured and eight people were slightly injured.
According to the information known so far, the 73-year-old driver of a private vehicle was driving in the direction of Novi Mesto when, due to driving at an inappropriate speed, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a guardrail and stopped on the highway lane. No one was injured in this vehicle.
A truck with a trailer pulled up behind him, which stopped safely before the accident, and the 53-year-old driver of the van crashed into its rear due to inappropriate speed. The driver of the van was slightly injured, three passengers were also slightly injured, one female passenger was seriously injured, and two passengers in the van died on the spot due to their injuries.
Next came a 27-year-old driver of a private vehicle, who avoided vehicles and therefore crashed into the guardrail. This vehicle was not damaged by any vehicles on the road and passed a few of them, and then came to a safe stop. No one was injured in the vehicle. The 22-year-old driver of the private vehicle behind him also avoided parts of the vehicles on the road and overtook several of them before coming to a safe stop. No one was injured in the vehicle.

The 47-year-old driver of a private vehicle, who drove behind them, collided with vehicles that stopped safely due to accidents due to inappropriate speed. In this accident, one of the drivers and three passengers were slightly injured.
Police officers will issue fines to the perpetrators of traffic accidents with material damage or accidents with minor physical injuries, and criminal charges will be filed with the competent state prosecutor’s office against the perpetrator of an accident with a fatal outcome and serious bodily injuries. The highway was closed for a long time in order to inspect the scene of the accident and then remove the consequences.
