In the program “Industrial news on the air”, we talk about how the green paper of industrial policy has developed and what the next steps of industrial policy are.

There is also talk of education and the popularization of industry in elementary schools. We will also review the theme of sustainability that was raised at the industry conference Industry 5.0 and take a look at the support measures offered to the industrial sector.

Andri Haran, head of the industry sector of the Ministry of Economy and Communications, and Marily Hendrikson, advisor for data and artificial intelligence, are visiting. The show is hosted by Harro Puusild.

The focus is also on a well-known problem, i.e. young people’s lack of interest in industry and technology. “It’s about consistency,” Haran notes on the show. “The fact that you do one robotics lesson a year at school or bring a model workshop to the school doesn’t save the day. This gives the student the first emotion, but there are still several steps to take so that schools have a constant opportunity to teach these subjects through practical examples.”

“Secondly, we should invest in teachers so that they are able to teach in this way. This process is long and these things don’t happen overnight. We cannot say that today we will start doing and tomorrow there will be a solution. These are the steps that must be taken, because Estonian society and the economic environment today strongly indicate that there are deficiencies here and we must implement these changes,” explained Haran.

The show is sponsored by Radius Machining and Hansavest.
