The driver lost control of the lorry and fell into a pond on the side of the road after losing control at Kalmakanda in Netrakona district. The deceased was Yachin Mia (17) of Kolmakanda Upazila, Kailati Union, Small Sidholi village. Bachchu is Mia’s son.
The accident took place on Wednesday (May 24) around 6:30 am in the pond near Lutfur Rahman’s house in Haripur village on the Nazirpur-Sidhli road in Kalmakanda.
Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam said that Yachin Mia left home early in the morning with a lorry to fetch sand from the neighboring upazila Durgapur. On the way, the lorry overturned and fell into the pond near Lutfur Rahman’s house in the village called Haripur. On receiving information, fire service and police rescued the lorry with the help of locals. In this incident, the body of the lorry driver Yashin was recovered.
