The City Council’s Department of Culture, Historical Heritage and Museums has created the Martorell Census of Artists. To make this possible, it calls on artists to register and identify themselves, through the website of the Municipal Board of Services for People in Martorell (PMSAPM). This is a first step in promoting new cultural policies.

The main objective of the census is to identify the cultural agents of the municipality. The councilor for the area, Andreu González, explains that in the current pandemic “we were clear that we needed to help the artists of Martorell, and we realized that we may not have an exhaustive census”. Although it was known “to those who are linked to artistic entities”, the same did not happen with individual artists.

For this reason, the councilor calls on them “to explain that they are part of this ecosystem, favorable to the creation and artistic production in the different artistic disciplines in Martorell”. This will be the starting point for “giving a new direction to local cultural policies and involving them, both at the associational level and individually.”

The action is framed within the new Martorell Cultural Action Plan, which has been working in 2020 with the help of the Barcelona Provincial Council. The councilor goes on to say that “we will begin to deploy new cultural policies, and this should be noticed with a change, in the medium term, that will allow us to respond to the needs of the sector”.

The registration of artists in the census can be done throughthis link. It must be done individually and indicate the personal details of the artist and the discipline he practices.
