According to the Upgates analysis, the demand for fireplaces on the Internet is up to tenfold year-on-year. Realistically, it would be higher, but manufacturers do not have time to cover it. People wait half a year or longer for some models of fireplace stoves, despite the increase in price by tens of percent. The reason for the high interest is the sharp increase in the price of electricity and gas. The fireplace, which was originally more of a decorative piece of household equipment, thus becomes the main source of heat. On Thursday, Martin Pech, business director of Upgates, which provides solutions for the creation and rental of e-shops, announced this.
According to the analysis, the average order value is 123 percent higher than last year. “It is partly due to the increase in the price of goods and partly due to the fact that people no longer order only accessories so much, but the entire fireplace stove,” said Pech. According to Pecha, people can buy new and high-quality fireplace stoves on the Internet for around 20,000 crowns, but models costing around 100,000 crowns are no exception. E-shops with fireplace stoves have tripled their sales compared to last year, the analysis further showed.
Pech predicts further growth in demand when it gets colder outside. According to him, the extreme sales will last in the fall and the whole of next year. “The interest in wood-burning stoves is unprecedented. The reason is rising energy prices and uncertainty, which forces households to return to traditional heating using wood, which is today the most inexpensive source of heating,” said Michal Sádecký from the online store Give.cz.
According to private companies and Forests of the Czech Republic, they are monitoring a significant increase in the demand for wood. In the second quarter of this year, the average price rose by 111 percent year-on-year, people pay about 1,000 crowns for a cubic meter, according to data from the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ).
A large number of orders are registered, for example, by the manufacturer and distributor of chimneys, the company Almeva. “Currently, the boom in new installations and reconstructions of chimneys and solid fuel appliances continues,” said company director Pavel Mareček.
According to statistics, electricity prices rose by 33.6 percent year-on-year in July, while gas prices rose by 59.8 percent.
