In recent years, according to the Amazing Places project, Czechs have become very popular in so-called glamping, or camping with the comfort of hotel services. Therefore, many new places are emerging that provide this type of accommodation. The average price per night is around 3,500 crowns, which, according to Amazing Places, is unsustainable in the long run due to increasing competition.
Operators can’t just benefit from providing an experience, they have to invest in equipment. Representatives of the Amazing Places project, which offers inspiration and booking accommodation in non-traditional places not only in the Czech Republic, said this at a press conference on Tuesday.
The price of accommodation in glamping places ranges from 1500 to 7000 crowns per night. “It’s not a cheap thing at all, considering that a lot of glamping projects don’t have a toilet, water, electricity, you go there to the cadastre and such facilities are able to say about 5,000 crowns a night,” said Klára Honzíková from Amazing Places. But people are interested in this type of experience, as evidenced by reservations that fill up quickly.
Glamping is currently the eighth of the offer at Amazing Places, two years ago people could choose from 15 places, currently there are 52. According to Honzíková, the coronavirus pandemic is on the rise, when people stayed more in the country and searched for locations with a low concentration of people .
New glampings are also being created, for example one owner is building it in a rock, Honzíková added. She added that the comfort of the guests must be kept in mind. For example, sleeping on a pallet bed is overcome. According to Honzíková, some projects also network the land where they provide glamping and introduce classic flush toilets.
In the search for Amazing Places, glamping ranks second after cottages and chalets. These on the portal make up about a quarter of the offer, while people prefer really old reconstructed cottages. According to Honzíková, they do not yet find modern, newly exhibited fans.
When choosing accommodation, people most desire a bath, terrace or balcony. Places with wellness facilities are in high demand. Czechs want to travel with pets, for many accommodation suitable for small children is important. The most popular localities are the mountains, most Czechs go to the Giant Mountains, the Jizera Mountains and the Jeseníky Mountains. In addition to the mountains, South Moravia is popular. According to Václav Vítek from Amazing Places, the Ore Mountains and the Eagle Mountains offer potential for accommodation.
“Generally speaking, we don’t care where we travel today. The important thing is that it is an experience so that we can let the world know so we can get out a bit,” Vítek said. He added that people want to go to places that are photogenic, suitable for placing the image on social networks. The Czechs also like to go to places that they will be able to recommend later, which is related to the fact that they want to be proud, he added.
