The index is still at the level of the fourth level of readiness out of five, while in the Czech Republic the fifth level is officially valid. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health. For example, the so-called reproductive number, which shows the rate of spread of the epidemic, rose by only a few thousandths of a point to about 1.05.
The reproductive number indicates the average number of people who get infected with one who has tested positive. It rose from 1.046 on Friday to 1.052. Of the four indicators for calculating the PES risk score, the average number of infected per 100,000 population in two weeks increased slightly.
On the contrary, the remaining two indicators – the 14-day average of those infected among the elderly and the proportion of hospitalized in whom covid-19 was only demonstrated in hospital – fell slightly.
The risk index has been consistently at the level of the fourth level of readiness of the PES system since mid-January, ie between 61 and 75 points out of 100. In the Czech Republic, however, measures for the fifth level of PES alert have been in force since 27 December, and in the meantime some measures have been tightened. At the end of January, the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) said that the PES index is no longer authoritative for determining measures.
“Currently, this own score is not relevant for what will happen next. Now we need to focus mainly on starting to vacate hospitals,” he said at the time.
