The continued detention of a former diplomat and the appearance of “Awali” after 8 months of disappearance, and the freedom of “Asmaa Abdel Raouf”

The family of the former diplomat, Yehia Negm, who was arrested on May 29, demanded that his place of detention be disclosed, the injustice committed against him be lifted and the violations against him be stopped.

The “Egyptian Coordination for Rights and Freedoms” stated that the victim, after he was arrested from his home, was forcibly hidden for 3 days before he appeared on June 2 at the Supreme Coup Security Prosecution, and as usual, decided to imprison him for 15 days pending investigation, for allegedly joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and misusing the means Social Media.
She added that despite his appearance in the Supreme Coup Prosecution and the investigation of him, he does not know where he is officially detained yet, and his family demands that his whereabouts be quickly disclosed and accessed.

Appearance of “Awali”

In addition, the detained student, Abdel-Moneim Ashraf Awali, 24, appeared during his presentation to the Supreme State Security Prosecution last Saturday afternoon, after an enforced disappearance that lasted for about 8 months without the basis of the law. Awali’s family called on the concerned authorities and human rights organizations to take action at all levels to work to end the injustice against him and to release him quickly.
Abdel Moneim Awali, a student in the third year at the Faculty of Media at Al-Azhar University, was arrested after his return from Sudan on October 17, 2020, and was taken to an unknown destination until he appeared in the prosecution without looking at the communications and telegraphs that his family had released earlier to reveal his place of detention.
A number of human rights organizations had documented the arrest of “Awali” during his return from Sudan to visit his family in Egypt, and no information was available about him other than his deportation to Halayeb Police Station on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Since then he has been forcibly disappeared, amidst his family’s fears for his safety.

Demands to release Asmaa Abdel Raouf

Meanwhile, the family of the detainee, Asmaa Al-Sayed Abdel-Raouf, renewed the release of her and her husband and the cessation of violations against them, in conjunction with the holding of the first counseling room to renew her detention after 150 days of pretrial detention without being presented to the prosecution or trial.

Asmaa Abdel-Raouf, 24, has a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia, from the village of Qantir, Faqous Center, in the eastern part of the country. She is the wife of the detainee, Muhammad Jamal Al-Yaserji, and they have a “lovely” child, aged 3 and a half, who was deprived of their care without guilt as part of the ongoing series of crimes against the Egyptian people.

After her arrest on November 9, Asmaa was subjected to enforced disappearance for 37 days, before she appeared on December 16, in connection with Case 680 of 2020.
For its part, the “Women Against the Coup” movement sympathized with the family’s demand and renewed the demand for freedom for the names and all the women and girls imprisoned in the coup prisons against a political background.

Stop the political execution

The “Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights” affirmed the rejection of death sentences against political opponents, especially in the absence of the justice system and transparent investigation.
This came after the Cairo Criminal Court issued a decision to execute the leader of the Islamic Group, Mustafa Hamza, on Sunday, June 6, 2021, against the background of the case of a previous assassination attempt on Safwat Al-Sharif.

The center indicated that “Hamza” has been in “Scorpion” prison for years.
