Prague – Today, the government coalition parties will discuss the government’s austerity package and pension reform proposal with representatives of employers. Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) said at the ODS press conference on Monday that he wants to hear from the unions their suggestions and comments, but also what risks they see in the planned measures. So far, he has noticed an understanding from the organizations for the need to save and take measures.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce Zdeněk Zajíček, the Association of Industry and Transport Jan Rafaj and the Confederation of Employers and Business Unions Jan Wiesner will participate in the meeting, the Straka Academy reported. Fiala said that he would also like to discuss subsidies with the unions. The cabinet wants to cut 54 billion crowns in subsidies in two years. Earlier, he said that he expects comments on individual subsidy titles from business associations and trade unions.
The government presented a package to consolidate public finances in May. It should reduce the state budget deficit by 94.1 billion crowns next year and by another 53.4 billion crowns in 2025.
