Several cars parked on the side of the national road 67C, in the Rânca resort, at the exit to Transalpina, were covered with snow. In this area, in some places, the snow layer measures even two meters. Drummers from Târgu Jiu intervened and say that the access to the resort is not affected, but only the parking lot where the cars were. Most likely, it was below the level of the road, and the blizzard snow accumulated over the cars.

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Management (CNAIR) posted on the account of Facebook more images from the intervention on Sunday morning from the exit from Transalpina. The images show how road workers work with machines and shovels to find cars covered in snow.

According to SDN Târgu Jiu, the cars that were covered in snow were parked on the side of the road, in a parking lot belonging to the owners of chalets in the area. According to the official communiqué, the access road to the resort was not affected by the blizzard. Thus, the traffic takes place in clean and wet road conditions, 1-2 cm of snow being isolated.

Snow removal teams intervene permanently on all sectors of national roads and highways to ensure safe traffic conditions. In the areas where it blizzarded, the snow is 2 meters, and the temperature is -19 degrees.

We remind you that Transalpina is closed during this period, so no snow removal works are carried out in this area. Transalpina is the highest road in Romania, having the highest point in Urdele Pass (at 2,145 m). The opening of the traffic is usually done on June 1, but, depending on the weather conditions, this date is not nailed down. In 2020, Transalpina has been open to traffic since May, with warm weather allowing this.
