Due to the 2nd wave of epidemic corona, the activities of Gyan vehicle were stopped for last 2 months. From today, the car of knowledge has started its activities again. The wheel of knowledge will run in Dakshin Khan, Uttar Khan and Chalaban areas adjacent to Dhaka Airport.
Educational institutions have been closed for a long time due to corona overgrowth and many uncertain educational institutions are now open for the second wave of corona. In the meantime, low-income people in Bangladesh are losing their livelihood and this has become a normal occurrence. As a result, the education of the children of these low-income families is very uncertain.
In this situation, earlier this year, Grow Your Reader started their WOW – Wheels of Wisdom project. This car of knowledge takes books to the homes of disadvantaged children and children can collect free books from that car and read them. The main purpose of this project is to keep the children interested in going to school or studying. Children’s relationship with the book so as not to be completely isolated.
Basically, the car delivers books to the community of 3 low-income people in Dhaka 5 days a week and at the same time raises awareness about Corona.
Coronary artery disease affects 10 million children worldwide. Bangladesh is not out of that risk. According to a study, 84% of people who are involved in educational development organizations and are in the teaching profession think that the dropout rate of children will increase in the future and the rate of child labor and child marriage will increase.
Grow Your Reader hosted a puppet dance at the opening of the event. Through which the way to collect books from the car of corona awareness and knowledge among the children has been informed. The inaugural ceremony was held in the Gawair area adjacent to the airport.
Sadia Jafrin, co-founder of Grow Your Reader, thinks the initiative will reduce the drop-out rate for children in the area and help develop reading habits in children.
Another co-founder, Amina Azad, said, “We want everyone to stand by us in this precarious time of the Corona epidemic so that we can take more initiatives like this.”
From next month, Your Reader is going to set up 4-way libraries called ‘Book Garages’ at 4 places in Dhaka where people can leave their old books so that those who don’t have books can read them. For this wonderful initiative they are collecting old and new books where you can send the books lying in the corner of your house to the address of Book Garage Event Link.
Grow Your Reader is a non-profit organization that works with quality education for disadvantaged children. They started their journey in 2016. Now in addition to the field stage, many of their activities are going on online. They have set up an online library during the Coronation period so that children have the opportunity to read books at home.
