Long term rental

Long-term leasing recovers market share again, rising to 26.0% (+0.6 pp) in the month, thanks to the excellent performance of Top and Captive; in the quarter it came to represent 25.8% of the market (+5.5 pp). The recovery of short-term rental is accelerating, reaching 11.4% penetration (also in this month, about double April 2022) and in the cumulative it reaches 6.2% (+3.0 pp) . Companies show slight growth, losing 1 point of share, to 5.7% in the month; 6.2% in the first quarter.

The market for food

Among power supplies, the petrol engine shows a strong recovery, rising to 29.2% of the share (+2.2 pp, to 27.6% in January-April), diesel falls back to 19.7% of the share ( -1.4pp, at 19.6%
in the 1st quarter). LPG goes back to 8.3% share in April (at 9.0% in the first four months) and methane, the only engine in decline, stops at 0.1% share, as in the cumulative. Overall, ECV cars accounted for 7.9% of the market in April. Segment analysis

The analysis of the new segmentation shows in April a drop in the share of sedans in segment A, to 11.7%, and a slight reduction for those in segment B (to 17.9%). Suvs lose ground in A, while recovering it in B (with a 27.1% share). Among the averages (following C), both SUVs rose, to 20.4% of representation, and sedans to 5.8%. The D-segment sedans were substantially stable, at 0.7% of the share, while the SUVs lost their representativeness (at 6% of the total). In the top range, SUVs cover 1.7% of the market and sedans 0.2%; finally, station wagons represent 4.4% of the total, MPVs 1.9% and sports cars 0.8%. From the point of view of geographical areas, in April the North East, thanks to the boost in rental, confirmed its leadership, rising to 36.4% of registrations. The North West drops to 28.5% of registrations (-1.1 pp), Central Italy is essentially stable at 21.7% of the total, the southern area drops to 9.0% and the islands to 4.4 %.

The best-selling cars

In the April top ten best-selling cars, the Fiat Panda is always stable at the top (7,367 units), followed, in second place, by the Fiat 500 (3,753), which returns to the standings, and, in third, by the Lancia Ypsilon (3,720 ). In fifth place we find the Fiat 500X (2,772), which gains five positions compared to the ranking of the previous month, followed, in seventh, by the Peugeot 3008 (2,585), which rises by one position, and, in ninth, by the Peugeot 208 (2,259) . Finally, the Jeep Renegade (2,198) closes the ranking in tenth position.

The used market

The used market totals 370,132 transfers of ownership gross of mini transfers to dealers in April 2023, 3.5% more than in April 2022. In the first four months of 2023, transfers of ownership are 1,665,737, up by 6.5% compared to the same period of 2022.
