The budget deficit rose to 270.9 billion crowns at the end of September

Prague – The state budget deficit at the end of September rose to 270.9 billion crowns from 231.1 billion crowns in August. The Ministry of Finance (MF) informed about this today. Last year, the budget deficit at the end of September was 326.3 billion crowns, which was the worst September result since the creation of the Czech Republic.

At the end of September, total budget revenues increased by 8.2 percent year-on-year to 1.168 trillion crowns. Expenditure increased by 2.4 percent year-on-year to 1.439 trillion crowns. According to the Ministry of Finance, the income side was helped by tax revenues, which were higher by 15.1 percent year-on-year, while expenditures, on the other hand, were deepened by extraordinary valorization of pensions, a contribution to cover household energy costs, increased benefits for housing and material needs, a one-off child allowance or humanitarian aid.

In March, the House of Representatives approved this year’s budget with a deficit of 280 billion crowns. In the summer, the government proposed his amendment, which foresees a deficit of 330 billion with revenues of 1.678 trillion crowns and expenditures of 2.008 trillion crowns. During the deliberations in the House of Representatives, however, government members proposed a further increase in the deficit by 45 billion crowns, a vote on the amendment is expected this month.
