The BMW M2 arrives in October

BMW has confirmed that the world premiere of the new M2 will follow in October. The future M2 G87 will be the last M model without electrification and will only use the SUS engine. For now, a picture of a vehicle with camouflage has been published, and the sports coupe will arrive on the market in April 2023.

BMW plans to sell the smallest M exclusively with rear-wheel drive, while the transmission will be a six-speed manual or optionally an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic.

The unit whose factory designation is S58 will be taken over from the M4, but with slightly less power, so as not to jeopardize the sale of the bigger brother. For now, there are no precise data on the power, but the officials of the German company confirmed that the three-liter in-line six-cylinder with two turbos will deliver around 450 hp.

BMW announces that the new M2 will be at the level of the old M2 CS in terms of performance. It will also take over M4 brakes, and a carbon roof will be on offer to reduce weight. For an additional fee, it will be possible to get front seats with a carbon construction. The cabin is expected to be decorated in the style of current BMW models, with the same level of digitization and the latest iDrive 8 software.

The prototype used 275/35/19 front and 285/30/20 rear tires, and compared to the standard Series 2 coupe, the tracks were widened by a significant 5.3 cm.
