The birth of a new civilization with Birth of Cultures

The Code::Arts development team is currently preparing their next work, Birth of Cultures. It is a strategy game in which the player assists and is an integral part of the birth and growth of a new civilization.

Strategy games that are usually called 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXtract, eXterminate) from an early age occupied a prominent place in the realm of video games, “grabbing” over the years, thousands and thousands of enthusiastic and thirsty players for the process of create and evolve a society or civilization according to their own criteria and beliefs.

Great (and immortal) titles from other eras, such as Civilization, Colonization, Empire Earth among many others, were (and still are) the delight of lovers of this genre, but the future remains bright. That’s because there are development teams that continue to invest seriously and deeply in this type of gameplay and the most recent example that we would like to make known to you is this Birth of Cultures.

As it could be relatively simple to anticipate, Birth of Cultures is a title that invites the player to participate in a journey through time, taking him to create and evolve the evolution of human society, over more than 60,000 years of human evolution.

Our task is apparently simple. Create and develop our own civilization from the primordial times when it was just a nomadic tribe of the last Ice Age, to the comforts and complexities of the Modern Era.

One of the peculiarities that the Code::Arts team reveals about their game is that, despite starting on a relatively small scale (in a small piece of the map and with few units available), Birth of Cultures grows until it reaches a gigantic world that is waiting to be explored and revealed to the players. It is a world that will have more than 490,000 hexagons as a base and whose creation processes will be based on realistic simulations.

Another feature of Birth of Cultures will be the fact that the game does not feature the typical Fog of War (the map only begins to be revealed as the player advances on the terrain). Instead, the game will feature as an integral part of the gameplay, the very curvature of the planet will be used to limit players’ vision. In this way, a sensation will also be created that the player is effectively controlling his nation at a global level, at a planetary level.

Combat will play an important role in Birth of Cultures, as it does in most strategy games. To that end, the Code::Arts team programmed the game in such a way that players enjoy a tremendous ability to diversify their offensive and defensive strategies. On the other hand, the world and lands where the action takes place, will be extremely realistic and with a reliable impact on combats.

Elements such as sunlight, temperature, altitude, biomes and weather conditions will be important points to pay attention to during the game and with different impacts on clashes (and beyond).

Birth of Cultures seems to have all the necessary ingredients to become a game of choice in the Strategy genre. We could be facing the birth of an epic game, but we will have to wait for the end of the year to get rid of stubbornness.

Birth of Cultures will be released closer to the end of the year for PC.
