The Alternative Hair Show

This year, it takes place on October 9 and 10, and viewers can watch it online for the second time in history.

This year’s show is uplifting and so telling for the needs of today’s society, the name ILLUMINARE (‘Illuminate’). Among the selected 20 hairdressers from all over the world, the renowned Czech hairdresser Petra Měchurová is also invited to participate in it, and she and her team will present their new collection of hairstyles. In addition, Salon Petra Měchurová became a member of the charity Alternative Hair Associate Members Club, which actively supports and contributes financially to charitable purposes.

Petra Měchurová presents her presentation at The Alternative Hair Show on the topic of interpersonal relationships. The performance is called STRINGS of LOVE (‘Threads of Love’) and is accompanied by a penetrating monologue, whose message is to challenge the audience to see the power and beauty in connection. Every hair, every thread entwined with a strand in hairstyles represents the interconnection of people. The colorful elements in the models’ clothes symbolize the deliberate difference and uniqueness of each person, and the installation with the threads stretched between them also points to their interconnectedness.

This concept organically follows the vision and mission of the brand, which sees the future of salon hair care in the art of empathizing with the real needs of customers and in an individual approach to each of them. Salon Petra Měchurová is launching a new model of the brand, which pushes the boundaries of hairdressing services and would like to inspire other service providers in various areas with its approach.

In addition to extraordinary creative energy, all creators are united by a philanthropic mission. Tony Rizzo founded The Alternative Hair Show as a charity project to help children and adults with leukemia after his two-year-old son Valentino died of the disease, which was still little studied at the time. It was a strong personal story that gave birth to a unique hairdressing project, which from humble beginnings in London gradually became the most important international show in its field.
