The Bicaz Gorges belong from an administrative point of view to Neamţ County. It is the decision announced six months ago by the Ploieşti Court of Appeal. This was challenged by the authorities from Harghita who claim that the municipality of Gheorgheni must manage the Bicaz Gorges.
They received the answer to the legal request on Wednesday when the Court of Appeal decided to reject the appeal. In addition, those in Harghita are obliged to pay compensation.
“The Ploieşti Court of Appeal admits the exception of the impossibility of appeals. Dismisses the actions for annulment as inadmissible; Obliges the appellants Gheorgheni Municipality and UAT Harghita County to pay to the respondent Bicaz-Chei Commune the amount of 8000 lei, 4000 lei each. Irrevocable. The sentence pronounced in the public hearing, today, 13.01.2021 ”, writes in the court decision.
The stake of the process was the administrative border between Neamţ and Harghita counties. In the first instance, the Prahova Tribunal decided to annul the report recording the installation of some border posts and to establish another border, with 4 km towards Neamţ County, which involved the crossing of the Bicaz Gorges, administrative, in Harghita County.
Thus, the Bicaz Gorges belonged to the Gheorgheni municipality from Harghita, and not to the Bicaz Chei commune from Neamţ county. In June 2021, the judges of the Ploieşti Court of Appeal decided that the Bicaz Gorges area should remain under the administration of Neamţ County.
