The best movie in the world is being remade – with Robert Downey Jr. nominated for the lead role

Nothing is sacred. In 2012, the British magazine Sight & Sound voted the best film in the world, Vertigo – the red tear, is going to be remade.

Deadline has reported how Steven Knight, known from the See and Peaky Blinders series, is writing a new version of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo (1958). According to preliminary information, Robert Downey Jr. will play a traumatized police officer in the new film. In the original Vertigo, James Stewart was famously seen in the role.

To be precise, Vertigo is no longer the best film in the world according to Sight & Sound. The vote, which is organized every 10 years, was won last year by Jeanne Dielman (1975), who famously gathered only two viewers in Finland during her publication week:

Vertigo can be rented and bought digitally in Finland, at the cheapest price for a couple of euros, but the film cannot be found on monthly paid streaming services.
