The all-new Honda Civic will be exclusively a hybrid

Honda has just unveiled the latest edition of the Civic. The five-door liftback variant was shown for the first time, for which practical possibilities stand out. One of the promo pictures shows a young couple unloading a new TV set from the car. Roughly, as they used to load washing machines in our country…

Joke aside, the new Civic should have an even bigger trunk than the outgoing generation, which is otherwise known for its large-volume trunk. We should say, because Honda did not give any details about the new model.

The only thing that was passed on to the press was the fact that the 11th generation Civic will have exclusively hybrid technology e: HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) which has already been presented at the new Honda HR-V.

It is a combination of 1.5 petrol and electric motors, but in a completely different correlation compared to the hybrids we are used to so far. Unlike the European version, the classic engines will be kept in America – 2.0 atmospheric and 1.5 turbo-petrol.

Namely, only the electric motor is used for propulsion, while gasoline has the role of an aggregate, ie a generator of electricity that supplies batteries and the electric motor. In other words, the petrol is not connected to the drive wheels at all.

In that way, we actually got an electric vehicle with which you can go on long distances without fear of running out of electricity. Just stop by the gas station and continue your journey.

Since its launch in 1972, the Honda Civic has sold over 27 million units in more than 170 countries around the world. The European version will appear in the fall of 2022.
